Melbourne Pathology is trialling extended operating hours at 138 Glenferrie Rd, Malvern (just a few doors down from the Coles supermarket, next to Jeffreys Bookshop) and is now open between 8:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. This provides for more convenience and accessibility for patients. All patients and referrals are welcome, with no appointment necessary.

The independent specialist GPs who consult at this practice will ordinarily charge no out-of-pocket fee for standard consultations for pensioners aged over 65 years old who have a valid Medicare card and a valid Commonwealth concessional entitlement with online verification at time of visit (excludes weekends, public holidays, surgical procedures and non Medicare rebateable work).

Shingles is a disease that can cause a rash and persistent pain. The National Immunisation Program is now funding a two-dose course of shingles vaccine Shingrix® for the prevention of shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia. It is available for eligible people most at risk of complications from shingles: (1) everyone with a Medicare entitlement over 65 years old; First Nations people aged 50+; and those with certain other medical risk factors (stem cell transplant; solid organ transplant; haematological malignancy; advanced or untreated HIV. All other adults over 50 are recommended to have had vaccination against shingles (but not funded by government). Speak to your doctor to find out how you can protect yourself against shingles.
